Micron Chip Camp Inspires Future Innovators Through Hands-On Learning

Cayuga-Onondaga BOCES was proud to host a three-day Micron Chip Camp, an engaging career exploration experience that introduced students to the exciting world of semiconductor technology, engineering, and advanced manufacturing.

During this hands-on camp, students discovered how science, technology, engineering, and mathematics come together to create the innovations that power our everyday lives. Through interactive activities and real-world experiences, campers explored concepts in electronics, coding, engineering, and computer technology while developing skills in problem-solving, collaboration, creativity, and critical thinking.

Students participated in a variety of engaging activities designed to introduce them to the world of technology and engineering. Campers built Squishy Circuits to explore electrical concepts, created Lego AI projects, designed Binary Resistor Bracelets to learn about computer coding and binary systems, and tested their knowledge through Reverse Taboo challenges. Additional activities included breadboarding, Micro:bit coding, PC dissection, and soldering projects, giving students the opportunity to work with tools and technologies used in real-world engineering and technology fields. With eight different activity groups, students experienced a variety of hands-on learning opportunities that encouraged exploration, innovation, and curiosity.

The camp also highlights the many opportunities available through Cayuga-Onondaga BOCES Career & Technical Education (CTE) programs, where students gain valuable hands-on skills and explore pathways connected to today’s workforce. Programs such as Computer Systems & Network Administration (CSNA) prepare students for careers in technology through learning experiences focused on computer systems, networking, cybersecurity, and emerging technologies!
