New York Snowmobile Safety Course

This course provides fundamental information which all snowmobilers should possess in order to ensure the safety of riders and other trail users. New York Safe Boating Course
October 5 and 6, 2024
8:30am – 12:30pm
This 8 hour course is an introduction to the basic principles of safe and responsible boating. Students who successfully complete this course earn a safe boating certificate. Must be at least 10 years old to participate.
To help ensure New York’s waterways remain safe and enjoyable, this course teaches basic boating skills and encourages common sense and courtesy to all who share the water. Chainsaw Safety and Maintenance Course
Your chainsaw is a powerful and efficient tool for wood cutting. Learn the basics of maintenance and safe operation so that using your chainsaw is a smooth, safe and enjoyable experience. In this course, you will learn the basics of chainsaw maintenance, safety and proper operating procedures.

Marine Engine Repair
Through a combination of classroom and hands-on training, students will learn the basic skills needed
to work on outboard systems and drives. They will gain experience with specific brands such as Yamaha Outboards and Mercury Marine. Students will receive Yamaha Introduction to Outboard Systems and Mercury M-TEK Certifications upon successful completion of this course.

Basic Stick Welding
In this introductory course, learn about protective clothing and gear, welding safety, and proper equipment set-up and safe handling of high-pressure oxygen and acetylene tanks. Learn techniques of Oxy Fuel Welding (OFW), Oxy Fuel Cutting, proper usage and flame control as well as enhanced cutting techniques. At the end of this program, students will have an understanding of constant current carrying machines and polarities, arc control, electrode classification, the use of E6010, E7018, E6013, E6011 electrodes as well as welder settings and techniques and out of position welding (1G, 2G, 3G, 4G).

DASA Training
DASA: New York State’s Dignity for All Student’s Act (Dignity Act) seeks to provide NYS public elementary and secondary school students with a safe, supportive environment free from discrimination, intimidation, taunting, harassment, and bullying on school property, a school bus and/or at a school function. The Cayuga-Onondaga BOCES is a NYSED-approved provider of the Dignity Act certification training.
The required training consists of a 6-hour asynchronous online training with accompanying assignments.

Child Abuse Identification and Reporting
Mandated reporters can participate in this web-based online training course at any time, 24/7. Users must complete the course within the course duration which is the current school calendar year (2024-2025). Users learn definitions, indicators, and how to make a report to the New York Statewide Central Register. This course meets the New York State Education Department mandatory requirements for Training in Child Abuse Identification and Reporting. In accordance with Chapter 363 of the Laws of 2018, the Board of Regents adopted amendments to certain sections of the Regulations of the Commissioner of Education related to Reports of Child Abuse in an Educational Setting.
This course also includes updated mandated reporter training requirements. Chapter 56 of the Laws of 2021 amended Social Services Law § 413 to require additional training to include protocols to reduce implicit bias in decision-making processes, strategies for identifying adverse childhood experiences, and guidelines to assist in recognizing signs of abuse or maltreatment while interacting virtually within the New York State Mandated Identification and Reporting of Child Abuse and Maltreatment/Neglect coursework.
The required training consists of a 3-hour asynchronous online training with accompanying assignments.

The Needs of Students with Autism
In response to the growing number of children being diagnosed with autism, the Legislature amended Sections 3004(4) and (5) of the Education Law to require all persons applying for a teaching certificate or license on or after September 2, 2009, as a special education teacher or as a school administrator who works in special education, to complete coursework or training in the needs of children with autism. This workshop will fulfill the NYSED requirement for Classroom Teaching Certification in all areas of Education. Participants of this course will learn about the characteristics of Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) as well as behavior supports and best instructional practices for supporting individuals with ASD. Upon successful completion of the course, participants will complete a certification of completion application that they can submit to the NYS Education Department along with other relevant forms when they apply for certification.
The required training consists of a 3-hour asynchronous online training with accompanying assignments.

A new way to move and respond to the changing world. How looking internally shapes our child’s future. Parents who take care of themselves are better able to assist their children. We are raising digital natives. Technology and personal behaviors can hinder our presence with children. This course addresses personal triggers, diet, behaviors, and responses to assist us in parenting the new earth child. Emphasizing progress over perfection and community over isolation for the betterment of all.

Intro to Holistic Living
Yoga is a lifestyle science. Ayurveda is the ancient science of nutrition. In this course we will look at ancient technology that encompasses the mind, body, spirit connection. We will address diet and exercise, the benefits of meditation, and themes of gratitude and joy as a means of personal wellbeing. When we feel good, we are better able to show up in the world for ourselves and others.

Adult Drone Technology (Coming Soon!)
Students will be given an introduction to the capabilities of the systems for emergency management, cinematic imaging, and remote sensing and surveying. The program will give hands-on experience flying small drones like the DJI Tello up to the DJI Phantom 4 and the Mavic Enterprise Drone with infrared imaging. Learn the technical aspects of what you need to know to take the Part 107 Exam and become commercially certified to fly drones.
