COASEHP is a self-insured Article 47 Healthcare Plan that offers medical and prescription drug coverage to its participants. Currently the COASEHP has approximately 5,000 covered lives, with single and family coverage available for active employees and retirees. It serves the School Districts of Cato-Meridian, Jordan-Elbridge, Moravia, Port Byron, Skaneateles, Southern Cayuga, Union Springs, Weedsport and the Board of Cooperative Educational Services.
The Plan is governed by a Board of Directors which includes one elected official from each of the participating component School Districts. Each participating component School District has a Healthcare Clerk, and that position is responsible for enrolling eligible Members, maintaining Membership within the Excellus system, terminating Members, explaining the Healthcare Plan and distributing required documentation to the District Members. The Healthcare Clerk serves under the guidance of the District Healthcare Board Member and the Healthcare Plan Executive Director.
Excellus BCBS is the Third Part Administrator, Express Scripts is the Prescription Benefit Manager, and First Stop Health is the Telemedicine Provider.
It is important for all Members and Retirees to keep their information up to date, including address, phone, email, etc. Retirees should also provide an alternate contact name/numbers and are encouraged to stay in contact with the District if moving or if any change in eligibility event occurs.
Any change in status (such as marriage, divorce, turning Age 65/Medicare, birth, adoption, etc.) that could affect your Healthcare Plan, should be discussed timely with your District Healthcare Clerk for appropriate paperwork and changes in coverage to meet deadline dates.
