Cayuga-Onondaga BOCES is proud to welcome Dr. Jen Singer as the new Director of Special Education! Since stepping into her role on February 5, 2025, she has been immersing herself in the schools, programs, and the incredible BOCES community, getting to know the students, staff, and families she will be supporting.
Singer brings a wealth of experience to the position, having previously worked for the New York State Department of Education and as CSE Chair at Mendon High School in Pittsford, NY. She is passionate about advocating for students, problem-solving to create opportunities, and collaborating with stakeholders to ensure every child receives the support they need. Her approach is solutions-driven, always focused on helping students thrive—whether that means celebrating those returning to their home districts or providing specialized programming to meet individual needs.
“The team here has been so welcoming,” Singer said. “The principals are incredibly knowledgeable and skilled. They truly know their students, celebrate their teachers, and work every day to lift them up. That kind of experience and longevity builds a culture and community you want to be a part of.”
Singer has been passionate about Special Education for as long as she can remember.
“My trajectory has always been Special Education,” she said.
Singer is married with two children. Her husband also shares her passion, serving as a Special Education principal at Wayne-Finger Lakes BOCES. At home, she stays busy as the proud mom of two sons, often acting as their personal taxi driver. In her free time, she finds joy in walking her dog and getting lost in a good book.
We are excited to have Dr. Singer on board and look forward to the positive impact she will have on students, staff, and families throughout the region. Welcome to the team!
