Emerging Careers in Commerce Students Take Virtual Field Trip to South Korea

On Thursday, March 6, students enrolled in the Emerging Careers in Commerce program at Cayuga-Onondaga BOCES participated in a virtual field trip to South Korea, offering them a unique opportunity to explore the country's rich cultural heritage right from their classroom.

The trip, arranged through “Learn Around The World,” gave students an introduction to South Korea, which is officially recognized as the Republic of Korea. Topics included traditional and modern Korean culture, as well as Korean food. Students also had the chance to ask questions about Korea throughout the presentation.

Some key Korean vocabulary the students learned included: KPOP (Korean pop music), kimchi (Korea’s national dish), and Pepero (a chocolate-covered biscuit/cookie that has its own holiday).

The Emerging Careers in Commerce Program is designed to give students hands-on exposure to careers in fields they are passionate about. The program’s goal is to ensure students not only graduate with a professional portfolio but also a strong foundation in the dynamic industries they wish to pursue. The exposure to international perspectives, such as through this virtual field trip, plays a key role in broadening their understanding of global trends and a variety of cultures.
