Creativity, teamwork and fun were on hand at Cayuga-Onondaga BOCES during the Finger Lakes 2023 FIRST LEGO League Challenge.
The competition featured 18 teams from throughout Central New York, including teams from Auburn, Union Springs, Port Byron, Jordan-Elbridge and Weedsport. Each team brings a robot to the competition table and are scored based on how many commands the robot successfully completes.
Each team is given three tries to receive the best possible score. In between competitions, teams would return to the building’s gymnasium to make potential modifications to the programming of their robots.
The event was well-attended, as many family members, friends and school district officials were on hand to cheer for their favorite teams.
According to the FIRST LEGO League website, FIRSTLEGO League introduces science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) to children ages four to 16 through fun, exciting hands-on learning.FIRSTLEGO League participants gain real-world problem-solving experiences through a guided, global robotics program, helping today’s students and teachers build a better future together.
