Cayuga-Onondaga BOCES welcomes Tony Ferrara as the new Interim Principal of the CTE program.
Tony joins BOCES after a 30-year career in education bringing great experience to the team. He served for 30 years as Principal of the Seneca Falls High School and after retiring, he continued for six years as Athletics Director for that district.
Tony commented that although BOCES is different than working in-district he likes having the opportunity to work on the other side of the table. “I like it. It’s obviously a new environment for me. As a component school district, I worked with the Wayne-Finger Lakes BOCES getting students into programs. Now I’m on the other side of the table.”
Tony continued, saying “It’s a beautiful facility and everyone has been great to me.”
He spoke about the many programs and opportunities available at Cayuga-Onondaga BOCES. From Culinary Arts to Auto Body Repair, he sees how the students “absorb everything that they can”.
“Unlike a compulsory age education institution, the students come in and get right to work in their programs. Actually being in the rooms and seeing the students at work and their collaboration with each other is the best part.” He concluded that Cayuga-Onondaga BOCES programs are a great opportunity to students to find out what they want to do next, whether its trade school, college, or right into the workforce students receive hands-on experience.
