PBIS Kickoff Event Showcases Joy Throughout Campus

The Cayuga-Onondaga BOCES Special Education PBIS Kickoff event brought happiness throughout the campus and truly demonstrated how staff are joyful in their work.
PBIS, which stands for positive behavior interventions and supports, is a framework for encouraging positive behaviors while reducing negative conduct. Cayuga-Onondaga BOCES holds the kickoff event annually to celebrate student achievement, while also reminding students of expectations.
Prior to the kickoff event, the entire program gathered outside for a special photo. Students and staff formed the letters of PBIS and a drone was able to capture the moment. From there, students went back inside and rotated through stations that included a photo booth, face painting, cookie decorating and 3-legged races. There were eight stations in total and plenty of fun to go around. Students were also given raffle tickets for a chance to win baskets at the end of the event.
Principal of Special Education Jenilee Weisbrod called the kickoff event a wonderful time to witness student excitement and anticipation.“My favorite part of the day was the drone picture and how everyone came together to make it happen,” she said. “It was so nice to see everyone having fun, mixing a bit with other staff and students, and enjoying the day.”
Special recognition goes to members of the PBIS Committee Mickey McNabb, Jenn Palmer, Andy Wells, Megan Senior, Nancy Cheney, Ashley Wright and Phil Tabone, and to all of the campus staff for supporting PBIS and implementing it consistently every day.
