Jordan-Elbridge
6:1:2 Autism Program
The 6:1:2 autism program is designed for students working toward the Skills and Achievement Commencement Credential (SACC) who have similar educational and developmental needs and benefit from a highly structured and supportive learning environment.
This program is offered in Jordan Elbridge and provides intensive, individualized instruction in a small-class environment. Each classroom includes up to six students, one certified special education teacher, and two teaching assistants/aides, allowing for consistent support and individualized attention throughout the school day.
The learning environment is intentionally structured to support students’ diverse academic, communication, and behavioral needs while fostering meaningful growth, independence, and functional skill development. Instruction is individualized and aligned with students’ IEP goals, with an emphasis on predictable routines, visual supports, and evidence-based instructional practices.
The program utilizes the TEACCH model, which provides a clearly organized structure and a modified learning environment with a strong emphasis on visual learning modalities. This approach assists students in developing communication skills, self-regulation skills, self-help skills, daily living skills, and other individualized learning targets identified through the IEP process.
Program highlights include:
- Highly structured, predictable learning environment
- Implementation of the TEACCH model with visual supports
- Explicit instruction in communication, self-regulation, and social skills
- Individualized behavioral supports and positive behavior strategies
The goal of the 6:1:2 autism program is to support each student’s growth by building foundational skills, increasing independence, and preparing students for meaningful participation in school, home, and community life.
