12:1+1 Enchanced Program

The 12:1+1 enhanced program serves students with moderate-severe disabilities. The program is “enhanced” in that it provides additional teacher aide staffing, to meet individual student needs as identified on their IEPs. All classes are located in age-appropriate public school buildings, including the class for 19- to 21-year-old students, which is located at the Cayuga Community College. Top learning priorities for each student are determined through a collaborative planning process developed by the BOCES in which parents are the key decision-makers. Instruction takes place in both integrated and self-contained settings using the concepts of partial participation, multi-level teaching, and curriculum overlapping. The least intrusive individualized modifications and adaptations in the environment, curriculum content, instructional strategies, and materials are made to meet the unique needs of each student.

The scope of services provided includes the following:

  • Provide systematic, databased instruction.
  • Implement a balanced standards-referenced curriculum incorporating both cognitive and functional skills.
  • Implement community-based instruction / on-site training in vocational placements.
  • Plan and support inclusive educational experiences for all students.
  • Provide the related services required to support students’ programs.
  • Implement transdisciplinary teaming and integrated delivery of related services.
  • Provide support in transition to post-school adult living.
  • Administer an extended school year program for eligible students.

  •
