Pat Nolan Instructional Development Program

Pat Nolan has been a secondary educator in the Central New York area for thirteen years. She began her career teaching high school social studies for the Weedsport and Southern Cayuga Districts. Prior to joining the BOCES Professional Development Unit in July of 2005, Pat taught middle level alternative education for eleven years at the Cayuga-Onondaga BOCES Summit School. In addition to her primary responsibilities as a social studies teacher, Pat led the middle school team in its efforts to align curriculum with the NYS learning standards. Along with these efforts, she consistently focused on designing means of assessment that accurately reflected student knowledge and achievement. She piloted a proactive behavioral modification system that included journaling and reflective practice.
Pat was selected to participate in the Cayuga-Onondaga BOCES Staff Development Academy Levels I and II in 2002 and 2003. She provided professional development opportunities for colleagues in reflective practice, adapting to change, promoting dynamic organizational behavior and shared mission and vision. Pat served as an Elementary ELA Scoring Leader in 2005 and 2006.
Pat received a B.A. from Wells College and an M.A. from the State University of New York at Albany.
In her work with the component districts Pat is dedicated to helping educators provide a foundation upon which all children can learn and be successful through high expectations, innovative curriculum and program design and the thorough attention to social/emotional needs of learners.
