Rebecca O. Kaune
Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction
Rebecca O. Kaune is the Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction at the Cayuga Onondaga BOCES. In her role she is responsible for the design, delivery, and quality control of all professional development and school improvement initiatives for the nine component districts.
Becky and the Professional Development Unit Team are committed to providing service that begins with district goals and maintains focus through a range of job embedded options for service delivery. Additionally she is directly responsible for professional development opportunities for district and building level leaders at all stages of their career. She is committed to the recruitment and retention of quality school administrators.
Becky began her career teaching in the Cato Meridian Schools in 1977. She left the classroom in 1990 to work as an Instructional Specialist at the Cayuga Onondaga BOCES. She later became Coordinator of IDP and earned her degree in Educational Administration from Cortland State University. In 1994 Becky became the Elementary Principal in the Weedsport Central School District and was named 2000 Regional Administrator of the Year. In July 2000 she returned to the BOCES as Director of Curriculum and Staff Development. She consults on a variety of topics related to effective schooling and leadership and has co authored several articles.
Becky resides in Weedsport with her husband Charlie. Her three children, Erik, Tyler and Ali all graduated from Weedsport High School.
