Leela J. George
Coordinator of Data, Curriculum, and Assessment



Leela George has been an educator for twenty-two years. She spent thirteen years in the classroom as a high school and middle school social studies teacher in the Cazenovia and Fayetteville-Manlius school districts. For five years, she served as a gifted education teacher with responsibilities for differentiating instruction for the advanced learner. At that time, she also served as a teacher leader by providing professional development opportunities to colleagues in thinking skills, peer coaching and technology integration.

For two years, Leela served as an Instructional Specialist in the Instructional Development Program. She is currently serving in her third year as the Coordinator of Data, Curriculum and Assessment.

Leela assists districts with data analysis including state assessment data, Collaborative Analysis of Student Learning (CASL) and action research in the classroom. In the area of curriculum, she works with districts in planning and creating local curriculum as well as coordinates regional Professional Learning Communities in science, L.O.T.E. and mathematics. She leads the regional scoring process for the state ELA assessments at grades 4, 6 & 8 as well as coordinates scoring training for local scoring in both ELA and math. The Office of Data, Curriculum and Assessment offers each component district six days of on-site professional development. Districts set goals for this work in June each year.

Her own education includes an undergraduate degree from St. Lawrence University (B.S.) and graduate degrees from SUNY Cortland (M.S) and Syracuse University (C.A.S.).
