Welcome to Special Education
Cayuga-Onondaga BOCES hosts all its classes for students with disabilities in age appropriate, neighborhood, general education buildings, which ensures the highest possible interaction with their non-diabled peers. This BOCES has assumed a prominent position assuring true access to the general education curriculum for all its students for over 20 years. A commitment for developing a continuum of quality, research-based program for our students is in concert with our long-standing commitment of high expectations and access for students.
Goals and Results for Individuals with Disabilities
Goals for individuals with disabilities are established by the New York State Education Department and VESID. These goals help to ensure that all students receiving special education services will meet high educational standards, will participate in school with their non-disabled peers, and will participate in post-secondary education or integrated work experiences. Cayuga-Onondaga BOCES has two transition specialists, which assist students in reaching their desired post-school outcomes, and to assist students in reaching their full potential throughout and beyond the student's school experience.
