8:1:1 District Based
The District Based 8:1+1 classrooms are for students who’s instructional and management needs are intense. Special education teachers, in concert with school psychologists, social workers, and crisis interventionist provide highly individualized approaches to academic programs and behavior modification. These classes are located in general education buildings in our component districts and serve students in Grades K-12.
The scope of services provided includes the following:
Provide students with the opportunity to receive academics in the regular education class that are supported by the 8:1+1 staff as appropriate.
Support regular education teachers and building personnel in best practices to work with a student enrolled in the 8:1+1 class.
Individualize instruction in the 8:1+1 classroom based on students’ Individualized Education Plans.
Provide counseling that is individualized for each student and includes individual and group counseling.
Develop and implement Behavior Management Plans for students.
Manage student IEPs and update psychological testing as needed.
Assist parents in maximizing their resources through strength-based, wrap-around interventions.
Provide related services that may include speech therapy, occupational therapy, and physical therapy.
