Cosmetology
Cosmetology is a demanding career that requires a wide range of skills. Students attend the Cosmetology Program for two years, including a 20-day summer school session, to satisfy the hours requirement. Students will focus on mastering professional techniques for hair, skin and nails in a salon environment, with hands-on instruction and training, as well as developing interpersonal communication skills. A clinic open to members of the local community provides students with real life experience in their field. The program is designed for students to develop marketable skills.
The Cosmetology Program features integrated academics including English/Language Arts and three college credits through an Articulation Agreement with Cayuga Community College, resulting in a SUNY transcript for Small Business Management (BUS 160). In addition, this program prepares students for the New York State Licensing Exam. In order to be eligible to take the exam, students must achieve 1,000 hours of instruction.
