Procedure for sending in equipment for repair or a request for lamps, etc:

If you have repair tags or forms, fill out the required spaces and attach to the equipment. If you have a request send it in through the BOCES mail. Keep the white (top) copy for your records. ( see sample repair tag below )

Blank repair tags/forms can be obtained from your A/V or Computer coordinator at the individual school buildings. Call us at BOCES if you need tags/forms. Most equipment can be brought to BOCES via the BOCES mail courier service. Bulky or very heavy items can be delivered by other methods, or on occasion we can pick them up at your building.

If you have old equipment that you are no longer using and are getting rid of, we can sometimes use it at BOCES for spare parts. Please call first, before sending equipment in, to see if it is something we need or not.

Power Cords, AC adapters, software, etc.
When sending in some equipment it is necessary to send along with it: drivers, AC adapters, special power cords, etc. If the equipment uses only a standard power cord, we will not need that. We have the most common drivers installed on our computers for testing printers. If the problem seems related to a driver, send in your CD or floppy disc with the equipment. If you do not have a driver we can sometimes download one from the Internet.

As an example for items to send in: if you suspect a bad ink cartridge on an inkjet printer is causing the problem, send the cartridge along with the printer to us. We can test the printer with that cartridge to verify the problem. Another example: we can test suspected bad printer cables, by trying a different one on your printer, or by trying it on one of our printers here.

If you are sending in a computer that needs a repair, if it is possible, make a backup of your data. If the hard drive has crashed, send in any backups you may have, as well as a copy of the operating system you want, and any programs, so they can be reinstalled. If the drive crashed and is not recoverable, we can install everything possible onto the new hard drive.
