Each summer, and one week in April, BOCES staff travels to individual school buildings for the purpose of preventative maintenance (Summer Service).

Summer Service consists of cleaning & maintaining Audio-Visual equipment and computers with some peripheral equipment.

Defective equipment is brought back to BOCES for service. Dust is blown out from equipment using an oiless air compressor. Audio-Visual and computer equipment is cleaned, inspected and tested for problems.

Audio-Visual:

Cassette Tape Recorders/Players
Clean the tape head(s), clean case/cord, clean capstan and pinch rollers, test operation.

Sound Film Strip Projector
Clean case, lens, check fan, test audio and visual performance.

Record Player
clean needle if dusty, test operation at various playing speeds, clean case, cord.

Overhead Projector
Remove fresnel lens clean and inspect lens, clean cover glass, case, cord. Test for focus, brightness, fan operation, etc.

Slide Projector
Clean case, cord, lens, test forward advance/reverse operation on carousel tray. Test visual performance.

Televisions
Clean cabinet, screen, cord. Test operation with VCR, adjust reachable controls.

VCR
Clean case, run cleaning tape in VCR, check operation using test tape and TV. Check rewind, fast forward, play, pause, tape insertion/eject mechanism.

16MM Projector
Clean case, cord. Clean lens, check reverse, forward operation, check loading, unloading of film and audio-visual performance.

Camcorder
Clean case, heads, check tape movement, check record and playback.

Opaque Projector
clean case, covers, mirrors, lens, test operation. Stereo, Karoake - Clean case, clean heads, capstans, pinch rollers, on Cassette portion. Test operation.

Film Strip Projector
Clean case, lens, check fan. Test visual operation.

Computer:

Computers
Clean case,keyboard, mouse, floppy disk drive, monitor and screen, Check operation if possible.

External Drives
Clean heads, case, test operation.

Printer Laser and Inkjet
clean, lubricate, run self - test if possible.

Monitor
Clean case, screen. Check and adjust image if possible.

Mouse
Clean rollers, mouse ball.

CD-Tower
clean out dust, individual CD-ROM drives if possible.
