Computer Systems Named Top CTE Programs

Thanks to a combination of student effort, high-quality instruction and access to state-of-the-art equipment, the Computer Systems & Network Administration program at CO BOCES was recently recognized as a top CTE program in the state.

The program was identified by the National Research Center for Career and Technical Education at the Southern Regional Education Board as one of the gold standard CTE programs in New York. The program was one of approximately 250 CTE programs recognized.

Instructor Matt Champlain said it is an honor to be recognized as one of the top CTE programs in the state. Champlain credited the hard work of his students and the program’s high-tech computer lab as reasons for why the program was recognized.

“We have an amazing computer lab here. College students come here to use our lab, which shows how great it is,” said Champlain. “For example, we work with drones, which not many high school students can say.”

Champlain noted that the program was also recognized for a top honor in 2012, when the New York State Board of Regents came to shadow the program and made the recommendation that the program was one of the top in the state for Computer Systems & Networking.
