Certificates, celebrations, and cheers: Cayuga-Onondaga BOCES hosts the 2017 CTE End-of-the-Year Ceremony

It was standing room only inside Auburn High School’s auditorium on Thursday, June 8. Family, friends, community members, district administrators, teachers, and more attended Cayuga-Onondaga BOCES’ Career & Technical Education (CTE) End-of-the-Year Ceremony. Approximately 200 certificates were presented to seniors who completed their CTE programs. Students from each of the 16 CTE programs, as well as the New Visions Program, were recognized during the ceremony. Additionally, more than $30,000 in scholarship funding was awarded to 27 students.

Senior Scoutt Cotto was nominated by her teachers to be the student speaker. Cotto, Cato-Meridian Central School District, completed the Plant, Animal, and Life Sciences Program and is the FFA President.

Two long-time team members were recognized during the ceremony. Machining & Welding Instructor Mike Burnham and Board Clerk/Secretary to the District Superintendent Sue Conway each dedicated the past 37 years to CO BOCES. They both are retiring at the end of June 2017.
